PureJewels Sponsors Coutts' London Jewellery Week

PureJewels on Green Street Invites you to 'Discover' Jewellery

Coutts' London Jewellery Week

March 2008

PUREJEWELS, the contemporary face of Bhanji Gokaldas, is proud to announce that it will be sponsoring Coutts' London Jewellery Week.

PROMOTING THE JEWELLERY CAPITAL
Coutts' London Jewellery Week, 11-15th June 2008, is a five-day celebration of the city’s jewellery-making talent. Catwalk shows, designer exhibitions, demonstrations and launch parties are planned for the week – and anyone with a taste for the glamorous should add it to their diary.

As a Platinum Sponsor (alongside jewellers including Swarovski and Theo Fennell), PureJewels will be hosting a series of events from its flagship store in East London. 24ct Gold Martinis will be served to mark the opening of the new store. PureJewels will also collaborate with other East London jewellers to hold a joint show in the heart of Stratford. Similar events will be taking place all over the city. In honour of the week, and for the first time in history, the famous OXO building will be lit up at dusk, to twinkle like a string of diamonds in the night sky.

“London has long been a jewellery centre of excellence,” says Jayant Raniga (PureJewels), “and it’s taken us too long to gather and celebrate it. London Jewellery Week will unite the city’s jewellers in a celebration of outstanding talent and beauty.”

“We are delighted to be sponsoring Coutts' London Jewellery Week as a Platinum Sponsor. We’re particularly proud to represent the jewellers of East London at this prestigious event.”

SUPPORTING NEW BRITISH DESIGN TALENT
Pure Jewels has teamed up with Newham College to launch its search for the next generation of jewellery designers. Thirteen graduates from Newham College’s Women Into Jewellery course have already been selected to create collections for London Jewellery Week. Their work will be displayed alongside new collections from Pure Jewels and its collaborative partners.
Pure Jewels’ commitment to these graduates is part of a campaign to bring fresh talent into the industry. “We’re committed to supporting the next generation of jewellers,” says Jayant Raniga. “The students on this new course produced some outstanding conceptual pieces– there’s an eclectic mix of cultural influences and we’re thrilled to be helping them to embark on their careers.” The collections from these new designers will be unveiled at a special launch party on 11th June 2008 – and will be available to view throughout Jewellery Week.

NOTES FOR EDITORS

1. ABOUT PUREJEWELS
PUREJEWELS is devoted to the extraordinary pleasure of jewels: yesterday, today and tomorrow. This contemporary brand has its roots firmly in another time – and another world. The story of PureJewels began in Nairobi in 1950, with a jewellery designer who made his name creating exquisite, bespoke pieces for the local elite. Twenty-five years later, he was tempted by the bright lights of London – and brought his own distinctive sparkle to a new country, eventually settling in Green Street. Home to a multicultural community, Green Street is the perfect home for PureJewels’ flagship store. Opening in May 2008, the spacious new showroom is a celebration of the history and pleasure of jewellery. On an upper floor, an exhibit reveals the company’s roots and explores the excavation to manufacture to the marketing of gold jewellery. Online, PureJewels continues to offer an unrivalled collection of contemporary and Indian-inspired jewels, from bespoke solitaires to bangles laden with diamonds.

2. LONDON JEWELLERY WEEK runs from 11-15th June 2008. PureJewels will be holding events throughout the week. More information, including the event schedule, at www.londonjewelleryweek.co.uk.
