At PureJewels, our men’s kada collection is designed in-house and crafted by our own jewellers in Britain, in 916 hallmarked 22-carat gold. Styles range from a plain polished gents kada to heavily worked pieces with diamond-cut detailing and CZ stones. Pieces from £750, with heavier statement kadas above 30g from £2,390.

What Is a Men’s Gold Kada?

A kada (also spelled kara) is a rigid circular bangle with no clasp — it slides over the hand and sits permanently on the wrist. Unlike a bracelet, there is no mechanism to open or close it. The kada’s unbroken circle is its defining characteristic — traditionally symbolising eternity, unity, and an unbreakable connection to God. At PureJewels, every men’s kada is crafted in solid 22ct gold and independently hallmarked by the London Assay Office.

Why Order from PureJewels?

  • Designed and made in Britain: Our kadas are not imported from a wholesale catalogue — they are designed in-house and crafted by our own jewellers, with the precision expected of a piece worn permanently on the wrist.
  • 50+ years serving the Sikh and South Asian community: We understand the cultural and religious weight of the kara — and we craft every piece with that significance in mind, not as a generic bangle.
  • London Assay Office hallmark on every piece: Your legal guarantee of gold purity, independently verified — not a seller’s claim.
  • Wide weight range: From a lightweight 12g daily wear piece to a 35g+ statement kada, we cover every budget and occasion under one roof.
  • Free first-order size exchange: If the kada does not fit, we exchange it at no charge. Visit our Green Street, London showroom for an in-person fitting.

The History & Meaning of the Kara

The kara is one of the Five Ks (Panj Kakars) of Sikhism — a circular steel bangle worn as a symbol of commitment to faith, strength, and the continuous cycle of life. The original Punjabi kara worn by warriors was fashioned in steel. At PureJewels, we have reinterpreted this tradition in 22ct gold — honouring the symbolism while reflecting contemporary luxury and the cultural significance of gold in South Asian heritage. Today, men’s gold kadas are worn across South Asian, East African Asian, and British Asian communities — not only by Sikhs but by anyone who identifies with the cultural weight of the piece.

Men’s Kada Styles at PureJewels

Plain & Polished Kada

The most traditional form — a smooth, rounded profile with a high-polish finish. No engraving, no stones, no decoration. The weight of the gold speaks for itself. A plain 22ct kada is the most culturally authentic choice and the most versatile for daily wear with any outfit.

Diamond-Cut & Engraved Kada

The surface of the kada is precision-cut or engraved to create geometric patterns, tracks, or linear facets that reflect light at different angles. More visual than a plain kada without being decorative — a good choice for men who want presence without ostentation.

CZ & Stone-Set Kada

Our CZ bar design kada features a linear row of cubic zirconia stones set into the outer face of the band. At 35.4g of solid 22ct gold, it combines the weight of a traditional kada with a modern jewellery finish. Popular for weddings and milestone gifts.

White Gold Kada

A men’s kada in 18ct or 22ct white gold — the same rigid-circle design in a cooler, contemporary metal. White gold kadas are increasingly popular among younger men and work particularly well with modern Western dress.

How to Size a Men’s Kada

A kada slides over the hand — sizing is based on the widest point of your hand with thumb tucked in, not the wrist circumference.

  • Hold your hand with fingers together and thumb tucked tightly across the palm
  • Measure the widest point across your knuckles in this position (in centimetres)
  • This measurement is the minimum inner diameter of the kada
  • Add 0.3–0.5cm to allow the kada to slide on and off comfortably
  • Men’s kadas typically range from size 2/8 to 2/12 (7–8cm inner diameter)

Frequently Asked Questions About Men’s Gold Kada

Kara and kada refer to the same piece — a rigid circular bangle with no clasp. Kara is the Punjabi term used primarily in the Sikh tradition (where it is one of the Five Ks). Kada is the broader Hindi/Urdu term used across South Asian communities. At PureJewels, we use both terms interchangeably.

Unlike a bracelet, a kada is sized by the widest point of your hand — not your wrist circumference. Hold your hand with fingers together and thumb tucked tightly across the palm. Measure the widest point across your knuckles. Add 0.3–0.5cm for a comfortable fit. Men’s kadas range from approximately 2/8 (7cm) to 2/12 (8cm).

Yes, and many men never take it off. Solid 22ct gold is durable and does not tarnish. The rigid construction also makes it more robust than a chain bracelet — no clasp to stress, no links to kink. Remove before heavy manual work or contact sports. Clean monthly with warm soapy water.

Yes, a heavy 22ct gold kada is one of the most culturally significant gifts a groom can receive, traditionally given by the bride’s family or the groom’s close family at a South Asian wedding. Our heavier kadas (25–35g+) are popular as groom gifts across Hindu, Sikh, and Muslim wedding traditions.
