What Is a Gold Pendant?
The word pendant comes from the Latin pendere, meaning “to hang down” — a piece designed to be suspended from a chain around the neck. Unlike a necklace, where the chain itself is the focal point, a pendant is the centrepiece, with the chain serving as its support. A gold pendant can be religious, symbolic, personalised, or purely decorative and at PureJewels, our collection is built around all four. Every pendant is independently hallmarked, confirming the gold purity stamped into the metal.
Why Order from PureJewels?
- A genuinely multi-faith collection: Since our founder travelled to England from India, PureJewels has served a community loud with many faiths. We design Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, and Christian pendants with the same craftsmanship and care — not as an afterthought category.
- The Divinity Collection — designed in-house: Our signature range of 22ct Sunrise Gold Om pendants, each inspired by a specific Hindu deity (Shiva, Durga, Ganesha, Krishna, Ram, Hanuman). These are not generic designs — each pendant integrates symbolic detailing unique to that deity.
- Choice of metal for every need:Â 22ct gold for rich, traditional colour; 18ct gold for added durability with intricate detailing; platinum for a naturally white, hypoallergenic, heirloom-grade choice. All hallmarked.
- Personalisation service:Â Initial and alphabet pendants can be paired with engraving. Contact us via Live Chat for custom requests.
- Showroom valet service:Â Visit our London showroom for complimentary cleaning and care advice to keep your pendant looking its best for years.
Gold Pendant Styles at PureJewels
Religious & Symbolic Pendants
Our religious pendant collection honours the beliefs of our diverse community — Om and Lakshmi pendants for Hindu customers, Ek Onkar and Khanda pendants for Sikh customers, cross pendants for Christian customers, and symbols for Muslim customers. Designs range from simple, sleek lettering to detailed embellished pieces with diamond accents. All unisex and suitable for daily or occasion wear.
The Divinity Collection — Om Pendants
Crafted in our exclusive 22ct Sunrise Gold — a softer, dawn-toned alloy developed specifically for this collection. Each pendant interweaves the sacred Om symbol with imagery representing a specific deity: the Hanuman pendant features a gada (mace); the Shiva pendant includes a trishul (trident); the Ram pendant subtly forms the shape of a bow. Worn daily as a symbol of faith, or for festivals including Rakshabandhan, Janmashtami, Ganesh Chaturthi, Navratri, and Diwali.
Initial & Alphabet Pendants
Personalised letter pendants available in 22ct gold, 18ct gold, and platinum 950. A popular gift for birthdays, Diwali, and milestone occasions — suitable for both children and adults. Many designs are studded with cubic zirconia for everyday sparkle. From around £90.
Diamond & Gemstone Pendants
For pendants with added sparkle, our diamond and coloured gemstone designs are set in 18ct gold or platinum. Available in solitaire, halo, and cluster settings — a contemporary alternative to traditional gold pendant styles.

Frequently Asked Questions About Gold Pendants
Can a 22ct gold pendant be worn every day?
Yes — a 22ct gold pendant is ideal for occasional and statement wear due to its high purity and rich colour, and it can be worn daily if handled with care. Lighter designs are more suitable for daily wear. Look for hallmarking that confirms 91.6% purity, and remove the pendant before swimming, exercising heavily, or using strong chemicals.
What is the difference between 22ct and 18ct pendants?
22ct gold (916) contains more pure gold and has a richer, deeper yellow colour — the traditional choice for religious and heritage pendants. 18ct gold (750) contains more alloy, making it harder and better suited to pieces with diamonds or intricate detailing, where extra durability protects the setting. Both are fully hallmarked and excellent quality — the choice comes down to colour preference and design.
Can I wear a gold om pendant if I am not Hindu?
The Om symbol carries specific spiritual significance within Hindu tradition, representing peace, balance, and universal energy. Many people outside the Hindu faith also wear Om pendants for their broader symbolic meaning and aesthetic appeal — there is no restriction on who can wear one. If religious significance matters to you specifically, our team can advise on pendants connected to your own faith via Live Chat.
What is the Divinity Collection?
The Divinity Collection is PureJewels’ exclusive range of 22ct Sunrise Gold Om pendants, each interpreting the Om symbol through the lens of a specific Hindu deity — Krishna, Hanuman, Shiva, Durga, Ganesha, and Ram. Sunrise Gold is a distinctive alloy developed by PureJewels with a softer, warmer tone than traditional yellow gold. Pendants are sold individually and pair beautifully with our 22ct Sunrise Gold link chains.
Does the pendant come with a chain?
Most pendants are sold individually without a chain, allowing you to choose the length and style that suits you — either from your existing collection or from our gold chains range. We recommend a chain that complements the pendant’s weight and design; our team can advise on the right match via Live Chat or in our showroom.
