What Are 22ct Gold Necklaces?
A 22ct gold necklace contains 91.6% pure gold — the purity standard that defines traditional South Asian bridal and occasion jewellery. The colour is distinctively deep yellow, richer than 18ct gold, and the intrinsic gold value is higher. The London Assay Office independently hallmarks every necklace in this collection — your legal guarantee of gold content, not a seller’s claim.
Why Order from PureJewels, Green Street?
- Four generations of jewellery making in London: PureJewels was founded by Bhanji Gokaldas, who brought his jewellery craft from India to East Africa and then to Britain. Our family has been making and selling gold necklaces on Green Street for over 50 years — we know this jewellery, this community, and what a bridal necklace means to a family.
- Exclusive designs you cannot buy elsewhere: The Armari, Rosettes, Anusha, Lotus, and Jali Filigree collections are designed in our own studio and made in Britain. You will not find these designs at any other retailer.
- More designs in store than online: New necklaces arrive before we have time to photograph and list them. Visit our Green Street showroom or contact us via Live Chat to ask what is currently in stock — especially for bridal pieces.
- Bridal consultation included: Our team helps brides build a complete set — necklace, earrings, bangles, rings — from coordinating collections. No appointment needed. Visit us or open Live Chat.
- Interest-free plans on bridal necklaces: For pieces over £1,000, we offer 3–6 month interest-free instalments with a 20% initial deposit.
22ct Gold Necklace Styles at PureJewels
Choker Necklaces
Sits close to the throat at 14″–16″. The most visually striking length for South Asian occasion wear — especially with open necklines on lehengas, sarees, and anarkalis. Our Armari and Rosettes chokers are the most popular bridal necklaces we make. The Anusha Collection choker (63g) is one of the finest pieces in our range, at £5,500.
Antique Style Necklaces
An oxidation technique darkens the recesses of the gold to create depth and an aged appearance — drawing on Mughal and South Indian jewellery traditions. These are longer pieces (18″–22″) worn as standalone statements. Do not polish an antique necklace — the darkened finish is integral to the design and cannot be restored.
Bridal Necklace Sets
Designed to be the most photographed piece a woman will own. Our bridal necklaces coordinate with matching earrings, bangles, and rings from the same collection. Visit Green Street or speak to our team via Live Chat to build your complete bridal set before your wedding date.

An antique style gold necklace uses an oxidation technique to darken the recessed areas of the gold design, creating depth and an aged, heirloom appearance — drawing on Mughal and South Indian jewellery traditions. The raised surfaces remain bright yellow gold while the recesses appear darker, giving the piece a two-tone effect. Do not polish an antique necklace — the darkened finish is part of the design. PureJewels antique style necklaces are available in the Armari collection and as standalone long necklace designs.
A choker sits close to the throat — typically 14"–16" — and is the most visually commanding necklace length. It suits open necklines on sarees, lehengas, and off-shoulder styles and is the most popular choice for South Asian bridal wear. A regular necklace (18"–20") sits lower at the collarbone or upper chest and is more versatile for daily and occasion wear across a wider range of necklines. Both are available at PureJewels.
At PureJewels, 22ct gold necklaces for bridal and occasion wear start from around £880 for a ladies choker. Mid-weight bridal chokers run £1,500–£3,500. Our Anusha Collection choker (63g) is priced at £5,500. Prices move with the daily gold rate and include VAT and making charges. Full bridal sets — necklace, earrings, bangles, and rings — are available to price on request via Live Chat or in our Green Street showroom.
Yes — and we strongly recommend it for bridal pieces. Visit our showroom at Green Street, Forest Gate, London E7. New designs arrive regularly and not everything is listed online. Our bridal advisors will show you the full in-store range, help you try pieces, and assist with building a complete bridal set. No appointment is needed, though calling ahead is helpful for bridal consultations. We are open Monday to Saturday.
Yes — every necklace in this collection carries the 916 fineness mark (22ct gold) and the London Assay Office hallmark.
